Pity doesn’t help when you’re poor and hungry …

These are some of many children whose lives Lucinda has touched. Its AMAZING how one act of caring can change a life .... and your kindness today will do just that.

For the women and children of poor communities like Lavender Hill, where unemployment, gangsterism and domestic violence are harsh realities, hunger is a constant, painful challenge.

Hunger pangs hurt. And malnutrition can cause permanent damage to growing bodies. But you can help prevent more suffering.

Support CWD’s effort to set up a community kitchen in Lavender Hill, so that vulnerable people – especially women and children – have one less hardship to deal with.

Your gift today will help us convert a container into a weather-proof kitchen, equip it with the essentials – and promote health and nutrition.

Please support this project now … only your generosity can stop hunger from hurting more children.

CWD’s crafty shop a great success

Our Shwe Shwe Dove Tea Room & Craft Shop – which opened last year to raise funds for CWD and give crafters a showcase for their wares – has proved to be a great success. But soon, the shop will also impress visitors to the soccer World Cup – as it’s situated on the Fan Walk to the Greenpoint Stadium.

Fans will be able to browse and buy craft at the shop – while the tea room will be offering African-inspired food and refreshments. Visitors to this special venue during the soccer World Cup period will be able to watch the games – and even check their e-mail on a free WIFI connection.

Best of all, patrons will be contributing to a non-denominational organisation that has been providing relief to thousands of underprivileged people in the greater Cape Town area for 40 years.

* Centrally situated at 37A Somerset Road, Greenpoint, Cape Town, the Shwe Shwe Dove Tea Room & Craft Shop is housed in a converted chapel, which was built under one the oldest oak trees in Cape Town.
