WHERE IS DELFT?
Delft is an integrated, impoverished 'dormitory' styled township situated in the Northern Suburbs of the Cape Peninsula. It is borderd by the N2 in the South, Stellenbosch Arterial in the North, R 300 to the East and cape Town International Airport to the West.
THE AREA OF DELFT
Is made up of a number of sub-areas: Leiden,The Hague, Voorbrug, Eindhoven,Delft South, Delft 7 – 9 and Delft Symphony – the N2 Gateway expansion. This does not exclude clients from the larger community of Brentwood Park and Wesbank.
THE COMMUNITY
Research indicates that the unemployment rate in the area is high and that there is a great dependence on the income of a single parent, state grants or pensions. As a result the socio-economic problems of drug abuse, gangsterism, teenage pregnancies, a high school drop out rate, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect.
OUR VISION
Is to assist communities in becoming self reliant, united communities seeking solutions to their social needs by providing support services and resources to build community dignity and self reliance.
THE PURPOSE OF THE CENTRE
Encourage, support and guide the community towards self reliance by providing a professional service according to the capacity of the Centre, CWD specialised programmes and focus areas and if needed refer them to or partner with other relevant service providers.
HOW DO WE STRIVE TO ACHIEVE OUR PURPOSE
We envisage the Centre living true to its purpose through a holistic development approach. This would facilitate the developmet of the child from birth to adulthood, as well as rendering support to the extended family, making full use of the services offered by the Centre, focus areas and specilised programmes of CWD. As well as tapping into the resources of other structures and organisations through collaboration and partnerships.
