On Friday 21 May 2010 Greenpoint Cape Town CWD (Catholic Welfare and Development) said goodbye to their beloved patron Archbishop Emeritus Lawrence Henry.  After 40 years of service to the Catholic diocese in Cape Town Archbishop Henry has decided it is time to retire.

Sister Eleanora Dittrich a founding member of CWD thanked Archbishop Henry for his support over the years and said that “CWD would carry him affectionately in their hearts”.  She went onto say that CWD had truly become the churches arm for reaching out to the needy.  And that during times of struggle and uncertainty the staff of CWD new they could rely on Archbishop Henry for support and wisdom

Also at the ceremony was the new Archbishop and patron of CWD Most Reverend Archbishop Stephen Brislin.  Archnishop Brislin said; “CWD has for many years been an organization of great pride for the catholic church’s Cape Town diocese.  Although CWD works and is funded independently of the Catholic Church I am honoured to be asked to be the patron for such a wonderful organization and look forward to visiting all the community centres and projects over the next couple of weeks.”
