Tolerance builds stability in society

Our youth hold the key to our country’s future. And along with our co-hosts of the Round Table event – the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Department of Social Development – CWD was heartened to see young people from differing backgrounds building peace and friendship.

Based on the theme ‘There Shall Be Peace and Friendship’ the event strived to advance understanding between diverse groups.Ramblah Mdanga who’s 18 years old and from the Congo presented a moving opening address. She finished school with distinction – but can’t continue her studies owing to a lack of access to resources caused by her parents’ asylum status.

New friends

The children showed that they were eager to share their thoughts hear about the experiences of others – and make new friends.

Each group was alive with intense discussion and many youngsters showed maturity beyond their years.

The day was an inspiring success and CWD looks forward to hosting more nation-building Round Tables like this in the future.
