Race Day with heart to celebrate CWD’s 40th
Kenilworth Race Course was the place to be on February 24 when CWD paid tribute to the many people who have helped – and continue to support – the organisation’s work. And the event was made even more special by the 100 four-year-olds – from CWD’s ELSO (Early Learning Service Organisation) project – who also joined in our anniversary celebration.
“We are proud of what have achieved over the last 40 years and remain committed and passionate about the work we do and more importantly the individuals we serve ” said CWD Director Lungisa Huna.
The guests – who ranged from race horse owners to local government officials – enjoyed a scrumptious lunch while the children enjoyed a party on the lawns of the race course. For the little ones the highlight was undoubtedly the race – with all 100 children shrieking with excitement as the horses and jockeys flew past.
The previous Mayor of Cape Town Gerald Morkel thanked guests for supporting the event and congratulated CWD on 40 years of service. He also thanked legendary jockey Burt Lloyd – who organised the race day – for his commitment to and support of CWD.
