Vision

A leading, dynamic organisation, professionally enhancing self-reliant communities

Zanokhanyo Home Management Training Centre

Unskilled, unemployed and marginalised township women come to Zanokhanyo [Bringer of Light] to learn basic housekeeping skills which enable them to find jobs in the domestic, cleaning and hospitality industries.

One of our most exciting and successful programmes, Zanokhanya trained 128 women last year, 108 of whom have since been placed in formal employment and now earn a regular income – an 84% success rate.

Of those women yet to find employment, many have joined the Zanokhanya Bakery Project, where they earn an income baking cakes, biscuits and other items for sale to the community.

Participation in the programme leads to a real and noticeable impact, not only on these women, but on their children and other dependants, whose lives are dramatically improved as a result of having a regular, dependable income.

Future plans include extending the building to cope with the extensive waiting list, expanding the bakery project into a full-scale catering service and getting the Zanohkanyo Home Management course accredited with Services SETA.

Funding to make these plans a reality remains our biggest challenge. Please click here if you would like to make an online contribution now.
